A usual feeding schedule for most adult dogs is once in the morning and once in the evening. Some people feed adult dogs only once a day. That's fine but we recommend feed twice a day. This keeps the nutrition and vitamins in their system longer hours.

Protein in dog food can come from either plants or meat sources. Our protein comes from meat,, Sardines and a small amount from legumes and vegetables. Its all natural. The fat comes only from the meats, sardines and olive oil.
Here is how protein works in your dog's body
Not all proteins are created equal, and some are better for pets than others. Every protein source contains different levels of amino acids and each protein is different in its ability to be broken down into amino acids. Protein is processed in the liver and any waste materials are filtered and excreted by the kidneys. High quality protein does not generate large amounts of waste that needs to be removed from the body, but poor quality protein which is difficult to digest does and thus puts stress on the kidneys.
The ability of a protein to be used by the body and its amount of usable amino acids is termed biological value. Egg has the highest biological value and sets the standard by which other proteins are judged. Egg has a biological value of 100. Fish, sardines meal and poultry meat close behind with a value of 92. Beef and lamb is around 78. .
How much protein does my dog need?
Pregnant and lactating dogs may need to be fed puppy food to give them higher levels of necessary protein. Sick, weak, and debilitated animals also need extra protein. Animals with kidney disease may need to be on a protein-restricted diet to lessen the effects of the kidney disease. We at Holistic Dog Kitchen do not use grains of any kind. All our dinners are made with meats, sardines and selected fresh Vegetables and Legumes.
If your dog is 10 years old, keep him on a high protein meat based diet with plenty of calcium.
Feed smaller meals twice a day if you can. His or her digestive system will have less to process at a
time. The digestive system is the heart of the immune system. A strong immune system will help
keep your dog strong and healthy.
